When crossing the Canadian border from US what items are not allowed?
My husband and I are planning a camping trip to Canada. Is there anything we can’t take in our RV. It is really a van converted into an RV (home made with pop-top)
We will have a kayak, cooler, bed, camera, oil painting supplies, food and camping supplies such as small ax, saw, camp stove and etc.. Will my dog need any sort of ID or records of shots?
Is it true you can’t bring meat across the border? Will they search my whole van? It would take hours for them to go through everything because we are pack rats.
We plan to use our birth certificates and drivers license. I heard that we don’t need a passport until June of 09? Is that right?
In general fresh vegetables, fruit, and meat are not allowed into Canada however you can bring baked, canned or frozen items into Canada. Based on the list of items you have included there should be no problem with any of the items. You will not need to pay duty on any of the items.
Your dog will need a current vaccination(s) and a form completed by your vet certifying this. As mentioned in a previous answer, your vet should have the necessary forms on hand.
There is a chance they may search your vehicle, the type of search depending on what they initially discover. Answer honestly and completly all of the questions you are asked and you will generally have less problems.
Certain types of firearms are prohibited in Canada and any others will require a permit be completed to bring them in. You do not have any included in your list so, if you have any, either leave them at home or make sure you have your paperwork in order.
Here's my opinion: artistic talent is largely learned. Most of the so-called experts will argue this statement, of course. They’ll proclaim that artistic oil painting techniques are only in the grasp of those rare individuals that are born with a mysteriously God-like ability to create art.
