How much is this painting worth?
I have a painting in my house signed by N.Pearse and on the back it has a stamp from Bourlet & Sons Ltd. which was a fine arts ‘agency’. I don’t have a date for it but the stamp is from the shop in Nassau Street which they were at from 1895 until 1973. It is definately earlier than 1970 though because of when the painting was given to my family.
The painting is oil I think and it is of woodland, mainly trees.

If you’re sure it’s an original work rather than a print of some kind, it may be useful to take it to one of the big art auctioneers. There was a British artist by the name of Norah Pearse, with many of her works passing through various auction houses. The dealer is fairly irrelevant unless they were also the agent for an artist. If you had posted up a link to a photo of the actual work, we could have compared it with Norah’s.
Here's my opinion: artistic talent is largely learned. Most of the so-called experts will argue this statement, of course. They’ll proclaim that artistic oil painting techniques are only in the grasp of those rare individuals that are born with a mysteriously God-like ability to create art.
