Artemis Fowl Fanfictions

artemis fowl fanfictions
Is it only me or dose it seem like more and more books stink like fanfictions?

now that fanfiction is getting more and more popular I keep finding more books that seem to go about the plot like a fan writer would. (i personaly am an fanfic writer) the authors seem to give no good reason why characters are there and make the main characters act in completly different ways from the first few books and they plead hormones as the reason. (my main ex. of this is the latest book in the artemis fowl series)

Yeah, um, as a fellow fanfic writer? I completely agree. Example: “Eragon.” It basically crosses over every /good/ sci-fi/fantasy book ever written and then self-inserts the author as the main character, who gets all sorts of neato magical powers. Whoo.

(I’ve decided that everything fantasy exists in degrees from “Lord of the Rings,” i.e.: book A has stolen a concept from LotR, so it is one degree away. Book B has stolen a concept from book A, and is therefore two degrees away, etc. Although in all fairness, there were other good, “traditional” fantasy books before LotR; check out the Riftwar Saga. Excellent stuff.)

Now, I love me some fic, but I read it online for a reason. I don’t expect to pay money to pick it up in a bookstore. It’s ridiculous.

Here's my opinion: artistic talent is largely learned. Most of the so-called experts will argue this statement, of course. They’ll proclaim that artistic oil painting techniques are only in the grasp of those rare individuals that are born with a mysteriously God-like ability to create art. Being lowly mortals, we should never even try to understand art let alone try to create it. Give me a break! Click here For the rest of the story: Free Painting Lesson
